Day 24/25: Tehachapi Recovering.

After our hike we got a ride from a trail angel named Tim. He gave us a tour of Tehachapi and then I had asked about where the post office was and he offered to go ahead and take me there. So lucky!

Many thanks to my grandmother for sending me a care package! The perfect resupply!

We then reserved a room at the Best Western in town and headed over to a restaurant named Kelceys. It was recommended to us by two locals so we figured it would be good.

All of us had roaring appetites and blood shot eyes. We were stinky, dirty, and goofy as the tiredness was taking over. I’m sure the waitress thought we were a weird bunch.

We all devoured food and then went across the street to a park with trees and grass. The perfect spot to lay down on. I found myself laying down, closing my eyes, and almost immediately falling asleep. My sleep only lasted about 10 minutes but I felt like a new person when I woke up.

Finally 3 pm hit and we headed to our hotel room where we squeezed all 6 of us in. Us hikers can sleep any where, the more we can squeeze in, the more money we can save. 😄

We took turns taking showers and getting laundry started, doing our town “chores”. Around 5:30 most of us were laying somewhere and I could no longer keep my eyes open. I didn’t want to nap for fear that I wouldn’t be able to go to sleep later but I couldn’t stay awake any longer. We all napped till about 7 pm and then ordered some Dominos pizza for dinner and watched some TV. It was a nice relaxing way to end the day.

At 9:30 we had turned off the lights and I was almost immediately asleep again. Hiking all night really did take it out of me.

What was even crazier is that all of us stayed asleep until 7 am. A full 10 hours of sleep and not a single person was up. Much much needed sleep.

We then headed to a bakery in town and loaded up on sweet pastries and coffee.

Afterwards, we went back to the park and did some stretches and yoga. We have also talked about doing 50 pushups a day to keep some upper body strength. But I’m not sure this will hold true. 😂

The rest of the day was spent relaxing in the hotel room and finishing up our town chores and getting ready to hike out tomorrow.

It was so nice to stay out of the heat for most of the day. I am looking forward to getting back out to the trail. Only about a week left of the desert then we will be in the Sierras which I am SO excited for.

Thank you so much to everyone and your continuous support!! ❤️
