Mile Marker: 260
Miles Hiked: 23
I am finding myself naturally waking up around 5:30 AM recently due to it getting so light around 4:30 here. I let myself go back to sleep for a while in the warm comfy motel bed.
Around 7:30 we walked over to the motel breakfast and I ordered a burrito and cinnamon roll.

Hiker hunger is slowly but surely starting to settle in. The cinnamon roll was beyond delicious. Made from scratch and so freaking good. I just couldn’t get over how good it was.

Journey, Ross, and I took our time with breakfast drinking copious amounts of coffee and eventually Tom, another CDT hiker joined us.
We decided we would check out at 10 and then head to the coffee shop to see about getting a hitch.
On our walk over a girl named Mosey asked if we wanted to join her and 2 other people named Pole and Taxi Man. Just the day prior I put together the lady who gave us a hitch in East Glacier to get our permit (who went by Riley’s mom) was Pole’s wife! She had mentioned him and gave us his Instagram and we finally connected the dots that we caught up to him.
Anywho, us 6 squeezed into Frank’s pickup and headed out towards the gravel road.

Frank was sweet was talked about being a shuttle for thru hikers and how he enjoyed it.
Then we started spotting the animals. There was an antelope, a cow moose and her calf, and a bull moose! Frank was so sweet and would back up after a spotting so we could all hop out and take pictures. I could have stood there watching all day.

He was even nice enough to take a picture with us.

We then headed off on a side trail that paralleled the CDT for a bit then rejoined after 6 miles.
We were cruising quickly today as most of the terrain was flat.
Majority of it was through another burn area but it still had its own unique beauty.

We didn’t stop much today as we were full on town food and were feeling good. Rest was definitely good for my feet but around 20 miles they definitely started talking.

We came to our camp location in a meadow and saw Whatever and Fiona camped out which always makes me happy. (But also, how do people camp alone. I could never.)
We enjoyed the day as the rain held off and I was happy with our camp spot until we started hearing animal noises. 😂
I wish I could just be calm and collected like majority seem. Sometimes I wonder if I should even be out here since I seem so much more concerned than the others. I’m not sure I have a definite answer to that yet but just trying to take it one day at a time.
