July 7th and 8th
Mile Marker: on Anaconda Alternate
Miles Hiked: 0
The past two days have been filled with doing town chores, eating, replacing gear, and sending home gear.
On July 7th it felt really good to rest our bodies and not walk around town much.
We resupplied our food for the next 4 days. For those of you curious what a full resupply looks like, here is a picture. 😁 I probably won’t eat all of that but will come pretty close!

We also went and got laundry done and have realized that many places here in Montana have a casino attached to it or a few slot machines in their business.

We then spent the day grabbing coffee, eating, and napping.
On July 8th we tried to get errands done early since the temperature is getting into the 90s today.
We went to a place called Washoe Park that has a “Hiker Hut” for us CDT hikers. We are allowed to hang out there and stay the night if wanted. The area also has a pool with restrooms and showers. Extremely nice setup!

After signing their log book and looking through the hiker box (place where hikers can leave things behind for others) we headed to the post office.
We decided to send home our cold weather gear since the next week looks like high temperatures in the high 90s. We sent home microspikes, pants, and gloves.
I’m hoping I don’t regret sending home my pants as I loved them but I also don’t want to carry the extra weight if I start wearing my shorts everyday. Every item adds up and my pack is feeling abnormally heavy.
We then took naps and ate some more and found out that Whatever and the others made it to town. Yay!
We grabbed dinner with Whatever, Fiona, Stove, and Columbus to wrap out our stay in Anaconda. They will be zeroing tomorrow when we head out so they will be a day behind us. I so wished they wanted to go with us but such is trail.
We also noticed that this town has a lot of town deer they let roam around. It took me by surprise at first then I really enjoyed seeing them being so used to humans.

Last night in town and heading out tomorrow. I’m nervous to head out without a bigger group but ready to get back to hiking.
