We slept in past 8, cozy in our beds. We could feel the frigid air anytime we got out from under the comforter.
Eventually we turned on the gas fireplace and made some coffee and tried to decide where we wanted to eat breakfast.
We decided on Euphoria and were not let down. I ordered chocolate chip pancakes, eggs, and a dark chocolate mocha. All of it was quite delicious.

We then made our way to the hiker center and were incredibly impressed. It had pretty much anything a hiker could ask for. Tons of items in the hiker box. There was a place to charge any device, free coffee or tea, a restroom, and someone was always there to oversee the place and help out. Amazing. This hiker center almost makes this town one of the best trail towns around.

We hung around for a little, chatting with some of the volunteers and then continued on to a gear store. We were needing new rain jackets or a new poncho to get us through the rest of Colorado.
We lucked out and found some nice rain jackets and new gloves that seemed to be quite waterproof according to the store clerk. As we walked back, we showed the gloves off to Aster and Whatever and they ended up getting the same. So all four of us have these big bulky waterproof gloves. 🤭
We went back to the hiker center and found that one of the older ladies made some Pillsbury cinnamon rolls. I of course had to have one! It was a fast track down memory lane.

Journey and I chatted with the older woman who made the cinnamon rolls for a while. She was so curious about the trail and our experiences thus far. When she got up to leave she wished us the best and told us to be safe. I decided to share my blog with her as I felt like she may be one to enjoy it. (If you are reading now, thank you for all that you do at the hiker center! 💗)
Journey and I then proceeded to our new hotel room as the cabin was booked for the night and we already had another reservation before even getting into Lake City! It was a beautiful room as well. Lake City was growing on me big time.

Journey and I then needed to resupply our food and do laundry at the local laundry mat. Before we set back out, Aster and Whatever came to the room and let us know they were going to have to hitch to Gunnison. Aster dropped her phone and the screen would no longer turn on. I felt terrible for her. Aster was similar to me when we got into town. We liked to get chores done and then have a large chunk of the day to spend in the hotel bed relaxing. We wished them well and hoped she could get a new one today.

Journey and I then continued to do our own town chores. It always takes longer than you expect.
We also stopped by the Lake City Bakery and were in heaven.

The cinnamon roll was delicious and probably a 9 out of 10. The frosting could have been a little bit less sweet, but overall it was just so yummy!
We then spent majority of our evening at the laundry mat and then finally around 8 decided to go to dinner at the local Mexican restaurant.
When we were finishing up, we received a text from a random number and found out Whatever and Aster were with Easy, another hiker we met earlier on who lived in Gunnison.
They picked us up as we were walking back and realized Whatever’s phone was not receiving our messages to meet for dinner. A big miscommunication but it all worked out. Easy came back to our hotel room and Whatever made us all a hot toddy as a nice little night cap. It was fun to reminisce with Easy about trail and feel proud that we were almost done with Colorado.
It was a busy, but nice day in Lake City. This is definitely a town Journey and I want to come back to for a vacation!
Sleep well.
