It’s that time y’all.
That time for Izzy to put on her backpack and head for an adventure.
T-minus 9 days till I pack up my newly made over Ozzy backpack and embark on a new journey!
This time, we are heading to the wonderful, stunning, Pacific Crest Trail. This trail is 2,650 miles long (460 miles longer than the Appalachian Trail) going through California, Oregon, and Washington. I am ecstatic as this will be my first time exploring the west coast and I know it is bound to be breathtaking! Surprisingly though, as I have already done a thru-hike, I am actually still finding myself a little nervous?!
Its nerve wracking leaving my very comfortable, happy life. I have finally settled into a nice routine and am going to disrupt it once again for an adventure filled with so much unknown…
But maybe that is the addicting part? Maybe all these new experiences really are where our joy comes from? Maybe that is why I have a constant yearning to be on a trail? Almost in a way where the Appalachian Trail feels like “home”. Maybe it was the hours of pondering thoughts, maybe it was the beautiful landscapes, maybe it was waking up outside to the birds chirping, maybe it was the simplicity, or maybe… it was me finding me. Me unbecoming what society had pressed me to become. That trail taught me more about myself than I could have ever imagined. I may feel nervous to leave but in the back of my head I know that as soon as I get out there, I am going to feel so happy to have put the yearning away and be exploring a trail again. I am beyond stoked to see what all this trail has to teach me!
What’s even better, is this time Planner gets to join me from the beginning. 🙂
Hopefully you all remember her from the AT, here are a few pics to jog your memory. 😀
Its been a blessing to be able to plan everything together. To ask each other “Hey, you bringing this? Or nah?” “What are you going to do about this though??” To almost daily ask each other for advice and thoughts.
Planner and I have stayed close friends since the AT and will be friends for the rest of our time. Since covid struck I still have not seen her since visiting her in North Carolina in 2017… Its been 4 years?!
Needless to say, its going to be a very happy reunion. And we will have 2,650 miles to catch up on our lives. 😀
As always, I will update my blog as soon as I have service. I am hoping to keep track of each day similar to what I did on the Appalachian Trail so I hope you all enjoy!
GAH! Time is flying, but I am ready for the challenge!
