Day 115: Mica Lake And Blown Down Trees.

September 2nd, 2021

Mile Marker: 2550.1

Miles Hiked Today: 31

We woke up slightly warmer than the previous night but found our belongings damp with the morning dew.

We sat eating breakfast and watched the sky change colors with the sunrise.

I was happy to see that most of the sky was clearing out. It looked like it was going to be another great weather day.

We hiked up for 2 miles to the top of a ridge and found unbelievable views.

We knew that we once again were going to have a slow start to getting miles done. We just couldn’t stop staring and taking pictures.

We continued on for 4 miles to Mica lake that was crystal blue, still, and reflected the mountain behind it perfectly.

There was talk about getting in the lake between all of us. We knew it was going to be extremely cold but would this be our last good lake to swim in?? Journey was quick to get in without question. Then Conrad followed suit and then I.

It may be our last lake and one as gorgeous as this one? I couldn’t pass it up!

It was a shock to the system jumping in but I felt incredible once I got out. Totally, 100 percent worth the dip.

We felt recharged and charged down the mountain.

We continued on for a while and found a great spot for lunch, up on a ridge facing Glacier Mountain.

If you haven’t been able to tell yet… Washington is SO beautiful!!

The second half of our day was filled with a lot of down trees. Ginormous trees. We would walk up to them and then have to decided if we wanted to crawl under them or take the trek around them since going over deemed impossible.

We were pretty far behind schedule today so we decided in the evening that we would hike into the night and get halfway up the next climb so that we could make the shuttle bus in time tomorrow.

We had to leave another message for Conrad…

It was yet another beautiful sunset and was wonderful weather for hiking into the night.

It was nice night hiking when we felt good. I was happy we were shaving off less miles for tomorrow since it will be our last town day before the finish!

We arrived at camp around 10, finishing with a total of 31 miles!

I am pretty exhausted and ready for sleep!
